Detroit, MI — Acclaimed and controversial Detroit-area rap artist Eminem caused a stir this past week after uttering the “N-Word” over 14 times during a recent performance in his home town. Eminem, who is known for his edgy lyrics and aggressive style, has not issued an apology nor has he even acknowledged that he uttered the racial slur/epithet.
“I couldn’t believe my ears,” said 23-year-old Ann Arbor college student Chance Weston who described himself as an avid Eminem fan. “I was so excited to come to the Fillmore and hear him, but I thought it was completely bad for him to use that word in this day and age, especially since he’s white.”
According to reports after the concert, Eminem uttered the slur several times during the performance of “Biterphobia.” Apparently he said it once, but after receiving boos from the largely white crowd, he proceeded to say it at least another 13 times before finishing the song.
Attempts to contact Eminem’s publicist have gone unanswered.
