Washington, D.C. — As the gravity of her job as White House Press Secretary weighs heavily on her, the daughter of former Arkansas Governor and Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee reached out to her father for advice on handling the contentious spotlight. According to White House insiders familiar with the family, the elder Huckabee told Sarah Huckabee Sanders to “eat more to combat the pressures and stresses of being in the limelight.”
“He just told her to pig out after the press conferences,” said an anonymous source close to the White House communications office regarding a conference call between the former governor and the new press secretary. “Well, those weren’t his exact words but he said something about that’s how he dealt with it.”
Sarah Huckabee Sanders was thrust into the public eye by becoming the Press Secretary under questionable circumstances. When she took the job, outgoing Press Secretary Sean Spicer was under growing scrutiny for being unable to provide an answer to basic questions, often claiming that he had not spoken to the President on a variety of topics. When critics pointed out that this was his job, he told the White House press corp, “no it is not.”
When Mr. Spicer resigned or was fired depending on your point of view, Sarah Huckabee Sanders was promoted to Press Secretary and all the stresses that come with it.
“Well, you can see that’s she stressed out,” continued the anonymous source. “We feel really bad for her. We’re not sure she wants the job, but she’s afraid to tell Trump she wants out. But everyone in the White House is confident that she’ll continue to give the press non-answers they crave.”
It’s unclear if Ms. Huckabee Sanders will take her father’s advice, nor whether President Trump will allow it or if he will criticize it.
